Col. Ralph Peters pens an outrageous essay, writing that journalists "have positioned themselves as protected-species combatants."
http://tinyurl.com/q7varv from Alternet A new report for a leading neoconservative group which pushes a belligerent “Israel first” agenda of conquest in the Middle East suggests that in future wars the US should make censorship of media official policy and advocates “military attacks on the partisan media.” (H/T MuzzleWatch) The report for JINSA, the Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs, was authored by retired US Army Colonel Ralph Peters. It appears in JINSA’s “flagship publication,” The Journal of International Security Affairs. “Today, the United States and its allies will never face a lone enemy on the battlefield. There will always be a hostile third party in the fight,” Peters writes, calling the media, “The killers without guns:” more http://tinyurl.com/q7varv _________________ Robert Frost knows his snow. New Glory: Expanding America's Global Supremacy (Hardcover) by Ralph Peters (Author) "Begin with the United States of America, the greatest force for freedom and change in history..." (more) Posted by: AAP ------------------ From the link: Editorial Reviews From Publishers Weekly In this lively but rarely incisive geo-political screed, the battle lines are starkly drawn. On one side are Americans, who "are so successful, so powerful, so wealthy-and so humane-that our very existence humiliates the failed and failing around the world," assisted by the other English-speaking peoples and the promising regions of India, Africa and Latin America. Opposing us is the Islamic Middle East, a realm of "malevolence" and "sickness of the soul," the global scourges of terrorism and corruption and, worst of all, France, a.k.a. "that vicious child among nations," "the cancer at the heart of Europe," "a two-bit Soviet Union" and "poisonous snake." In short, another us-versus-them rant by a wingnut who believes military might will solve anything. Y'know, I have to wonder about the sheeple followers of wingnuts like Peters, O'Reilly, and Hannity . . . on one hand, they're always being reminded that America is "the greatest force for freedom and change in history," and of how powerful it is . . . but on the other, O'Reilly, Hannity, and Beck are constantly telling to be afraid of something: Muslims, Mexicans, immigrants, etc. -- man, that's GOTTA be confusing . . . . _________________ "I am the master of low expectations." - GWB, July 4, 2003 Posted by: mj on Mon 5.25 3:17pm
